Sad News About A Dear Diary Member
Wed Sep 08 2010

I'm sorry to be the bearer of sad news.

Our Pragmatist passed away in her sleep last night.

Her dear friend Joan found her. She said that Chaya looked peaceful, so it must have been very quick.

We will all miss her I'm sure.

She was one of a kind.

Rest in peace, dear Chaya.

I wonder if the "Not electric" vacuum was the forefather of the carpet sweeper, or was the carpet sweeper around first?

I remember going to a village board meeting with my mother in 1987. The water/sewer commissioner was called upon to address the board on a particular issue. The "issue" was Miss Hattie. She refusedn repeated attempts by the village to tap into the water and sanitary sewer. Said commissoner was sent out to talk to her. End result was that she shot at him with her shotgun. The board decided to just forget about bothering her in the future *laffs*. She still didn't have running water when she passed away in the late 1990s.

I want to know when ladies stopped wearing heals and dresses to vacuum like this woman in the ad and Moms in the 60's TV shows? LOL
Thank God we came to our senses!
    These ads are great!

I was planning to come to introduce her to the kid's fiancee and take her out to lunch this weekend, too. :-( Now I guess I'll be coming to a funeral. Not nearly so enjoyable an occasion.

I've just talked to Megan and the funeral will be on Sunday @ 11:45 a.m. @ the Home of Peace cemetery. I'm going to try to make it, but an hour and half away and before noon, it seems a little iffy, particularly having just gotten out of the hospital myself yesterday.
