iPhoto uPhoto weAll Photo
Tue May 03 2011

I have been working diligently to learn my new iPhoto software on the iMac and have had some limited success. At first I was ready to reach into the slim and stylish innards of this mysterious machine and rip iPhoto out by its root directory, but I took some deep breaths and forged ahead on my learning curve.

And like Thomas Edison, my persistence paid off. Suddenly certain things clicked and I saw what was going on with the logic of the thing and we started humming along and getting things done.

(What you MEAN to say is that you have begun your journey to the dark, I mean Apple side of thinking. After all their logo used to read “Think Different”, remember?)

I don’t know what you are talking about.

Besides, I told my son yesterday [who doesn’t think much of Apple Corp.] that I may have taken a bite out of the apple, but I haven’t drunk the apple juice if you know what I mean.

(I rarely know what you mean.)

Whatever.

So in a flurry of productivity, I worked through the photos on my camera that have been taken over these many days of change in the garden and can now share them.

This is a picture of the clover crop right before we whacked it down...

I love this plant. It grew over the whole winter, through deluge and frost with no encouragement from me whatsoever, and gave us such a show of beauty at the end, well what’s not to like?

A week later, Hub Man tilled in the roots:

He created a new corner for the bed as the old one had rotted out. He decided to make it bigger at the same time.

My shell peas are very happily growing...

And the Sweet Williams are blooming.

Last and best, a picture of the show stopper of the moment in the back yard, a volunteer no less...

(That was a bit of overkill on the photos there Cupcake.)

I’m practicing.

Get off my case.

(But you ARE a case.)

You are going to be IN a case if you don’t butt out.

I felt the same way about iPhoto at first. I'm glad you two are becoming friends. :)

We are way behind you on the flower front though there are a few things blooming now. Our flowering cherry is just now getting underway......fully three weeks later than normal. It has been a very weird spring.

I'm really glad you've gotten the hang of iPhoto. Seeing a properly illustrated entry was lovely! Thanks go out to the bird that dropped the poppy seed just where it did.

I'll bet the bees loved that clover, but garden progress must be made by this time around these parts. Good luck! No matter how weird the weather this year, it would have to be better than last year. I don't think I got a dozen tomatoes all year last year.

Is that last one a California Poppy? I haven't seem them in years, but remember them being that color.

I just got one of my raised beds planted wtih peas, lettuce, spinach, raddish, and onions. I want to get some broccoli in, and get the other bed weeded and tilled so I can get the pumpkins and zucchini in. That will have to wait for the weather to dry up again as it started raining right after I got my first bed done. At least the Seattle weather dried up enough for me to get started!

The clover is beautiful by the way, I may consider putting that in this winter as a cover crop to keep out some of the more stubborn weeds we get over the winter.

Very cool pics! I really like how they're resized to fit the screen now - no more scrolling left and right to see the entire picture!

I won't get my scores for a few weeks yet. If you promise not to laugh, I'll post them when they arrive. I somehow suspect that I scored somewhat lower on this than I did on any of my classwork. It doesn't matter though. A pass is a pass is a (hopefully) job.
