The Knitter Returns
Mon Oct 17 2011

I am replete with contentment.

I ooze optimism.

I am obnoxiously cheerful.

Why?

I have returned, full of happy memories of another successful knitting retreat.

We were blessed with divine weather. I never even broke out my sweater. I slept with the windows open. I walked in dappled sunshine.

New avenues were explored this year.

I finally visited the sandwich shop which is just next door to the hotel and consumed the best, and I must say most expensive, tuna sandwich of my life. I should have taken a picture of it, but I was too hungry to rummage around for the camera at the time.

I did however get a picture of a new to me area near the hotel that a friend guided me to..

Behold...

Yep. I got to walk there a bit. Am I lucky or what? It was so beautiful, it seemed almost surreal.

We had locals too.

Later that day, the same friend showed me the way to a stream farther down the road where I saw Kokanee salmon. I actually didn’t know there were salmon that didn’t migrate to the ocean. These live in the lake all year.

They aren’t very big, but there were a lot of them.

Which would explain the size of the following creature...

I was not there, and didn’t see him for myself, but B., my knitting friend saw him up close and personal the day before. She sent me this picture of him at his dinner table.

I have never seen a fatter bear in my life...

Kokanee salmon might be small, but they must be quite high in calories. This bear seems prepared to go through any kind of winter mother nature wants to cook up this year.

Back at the home front, where our wildlife consist of smaller creatures, thank goodness, I am coming to terms with the fact that it is no longer my job to knit all day long.

This is a blow.

But on the other hand, the weather is still sublime and the dogs are happy to see me, and I still have a sukkah to lounge in when my chores are done.

And I DO have chores.

But none that are above my pay grade. ;-)

I’m hoping to get the garden cleared up and ready for winter in the next few weeks. And I think some bread should be baked, and some neglected corners cleaned.

Thank you Hub Man for holding down the fort while I took a gad about to put my head on straight with a room full of genius knitters.

Perhaps if I do it enough years in a row, I will become a genius too!

(Fat chance Cupcake.)

Oh. I wondered where you have been. Funny, I didn’t miss you one little bit while I was away.

Well, the party’s over Missy.
Time to put your apron on and get busy.
There are odd smells around here
that need eradicating.
I recommend lye soap.
And elbow grease.

After you clean the house,
and wash the clothes,
and put all your stuff away,
and do all the garden work,
and walk the dogs,
and pay the bills,
and clean the patio,
and get the mail,
and all that boring stuff,
I’ll help you make cookies!
Call me when you are ready.

Looks like I am well and truly home eh?
