Yesterday, my school friend L. and I went for a hike around Lake Siskiyou near Mt. Shasta.
It was a beautiful day, warm but not hot, with a breeze when we were close to the lake.
We saw some beautiful dogwood trees here and there...
These infant oak leaves stopped us in our tracks...
It got a little warm on the way back and I realized I am not quite ready for hot weather. I need some time to acclimate.
I am a bit out of shape too for walking. Not wood hauling or gardening, but walking? I could use some training.
I managed to slip on some gravel on the path going down hill and sat down hard, skinning my palms a bit. It was sort of Laurel and Hardy moment. But my arms are sore today from trying to catch myself...
Anyway, here's what we saw on the way back..
And a closer look at the mountain in the distance...
It's an awe inspiring sight. It always takes your breath away when you are near it.
I'm really glad she thought of going here. We already have plans to do it again, and walk on the other side of the lake this time. And maybe if I get in better shape, all the way around it!
It's good to have goals!
