I'm not sure where the time has gone, but here we are many days since the last entry.
I can only claim summer as my excuse.
And forest fires.
They are burning in many places in our area. Though today, it is cool and dead calm. There has been rain to the south east of us and I'm hoping it is putting out the fires there. We are praying it will come here too. Last night there was a light show in the southern sky. And far away rolling thunder. At least today, the conditions do not favor the fires. High humidity, cool temperatures, no wind. It's very welcome.
But rain. That would be awesome. There are clouds…we shall see.
I have been out to the garden today.
I need to pick kale eh?
Green beans too...
This large tomato is growing on a very small plant. I don't know how that works actually...
The first ripe one that's not a cherry type.
The volunteer marigolds are the stars of the garden this year. I only planted yellow incas, the rest all came up on their own, and are vigorous and beautiful.
Though the Zinnias will catch your eye...
This little gloriosa daisy has almost died many times. It's in a hot corner of the garden and sometimes the water doesn't reach it quite enough. But it has decided to bloom anyway. . . in profusion.
This is part of the harvest...
I went out a bit later and picked green beans and dug up one potato plant. I don't have photos of those. I need to get down to business and start cooking.
It is a bountiful day in the garden. Despite the fires and the searing temperatures we have endured.
For this I am truly thankful.
