  I'm going to be leaving home for seven days. One measly week. A minor blip in the space/time continuum. But when you have to hand over your every day chores to others, it sort of puts into focus just how many little things one is in charge of. I've been setting up my sprinkler 'system' in the garden so that all Mr. P has to do is turn on a faucet once or twice while I'm gone. S. is taking over the chicken chores. Well, I had to set up a better system for Miss Jane and her chick, so the whole nursery got moved today inside the run. I cleaned the coop, and filled up the inside water bucket. Then I realized I hadn't fixed the rain shelter for Sunny that got destroyed in a wind storm this winter. So I goofed around with that until I had a rudimentary fix. I also installed my new soaker hoses along the perimeter of the chicken run... AND I mowed the lawn the first time this Spring. WHEW! Here are Jane and the chick in their new spot, along with all the clippings from mowing...   She's having a little drink.... it's so cute.   Her crop is full of worms and bugs and chick feed. She KNOWS how to chow down. Here's a really neat photo of her markings... I love that brown on her back... She's two weeks old now. She seems smaller to me than the other chicks were. But Brahmas are a very large breed. I don't think Welsummers are all that big. We shall see. After all my work was done... I was done in. So I took a nice nap. When I woke up I decided before I leave home, I needed to balance a few more rocks. I love this one.. Oh yes, why am I leaving home for a week? I'm going to go meet my first grandson. Yep. You can call me Grandma. (Mazal Tov. .... Grandma Cupcake.... has a nice ring to it eh?) I guess I'll never get any respect from you will I? (Probably not.) Very well. See you later. I have to go snuggle a baby.
