It's windy today, but warmish.
Warm enough that it lured me outdoors and into the woods.
Because of all our rain and snow, the mosses are rampant. It always amazes me how they are so vibrant in the cool wet months and then sort of go all incognito during the summer.
Some places have eight or more different kinds of moss all crammed in together.
Others have taken the carpet approach:
This log was just about my favorite...
But in the final analysis, it's the close ups that get me every time...
I mean what's not to like about a miniature shroom?
Here's a picture of the general area.
Looks quite 'Lord of the Rings' to me. But it's part of my Shire. Heartwood Shire.
I scrambled cross country through this mossy display and up the hill on a deer trail. As I was crashing through the undergrowth, I almost ran straight into this that was stuck in a tree...
Somebody lost a nice arrow down in the draw. One could only hope it was Legolas. :-) I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I intend to keep it and see what I come up with. I don't usually come home with such a prize. Most of the time I only bring pixels back with me.
Goodbye February.
You made a good job of it this year.
Well done.
*As always, if you click on the photos, you can see them larger. [The little shroom one is worth a click.... just sayin']
