In a few days I am leaving on a little journey.
I'm going to see two of my three sons and their families in the fine states of Arizona and Colorado.
It's been almost a year since I've flown anywhere, and frankly I'm not a huge fan of flying any more. It's WAY more stressful than it used to be, and because I've lived long enough to remember the 'good old days' of air travel, I'm more than a little put out by the entire experience.
To keep the irritation to a minimum, which as a side effect also makes sure my fellow travelers don't become victims of my cranky, I take many things with me on the journey to keep myself occupied. You do NOT want to be around me if I am forced to sit quietly and do nothing for any more than say... fifteen minutes. In this respect, I'm a bit of a bad traveler. If there was a promenade on airplanes, I would be just fine and dandy. It's the sitting that gets to me.
So, I have packed my little bag of knitting, my Kindle Fire, I'm thinking about taking my iPod, and lastly I needed a place to write. I decided I was not at all interested in taking any of my ongoing journals with me, they are too precious to come along while I'm traipsing around the country. So I got out a brand new journal refill that I bought at Barnes and Noble a long time ago, and made a cover for it.
Just a couple of weeks ago I found a nice piece of leather at the second hand store. I loved the color of it! So I spent quite a while messing around with it this morning trying to figure out how I was going to make it work. I finally settled on this....

It's a little 'Lewis and Clark' on the outside, but inside it's quite civilized. [Kinda like me!]
( I think you have that metaphor backwards Cupcake.)
You do?
I spent a pleasant hour adding bits of washi tape and stickers and other decorations to several of the pages. It makes all that blankness less intimidating.
My fellow passengers won't appreciate how lucky they are that I planned ahead.
Because I've heard wing walking has gone out of style.
