Even though C. was a little wiped out by her hours of driving, we didn't want to miss out on an event that was happening last night with my group of friends.
It was B's birthday.
B. loves the moon.
Wait.... love doesn't quite cover it.... I mean she and the moon have a THING going on.... :-)
So her birthday request from the group was to go out in a beautiful spot we know of, and watch it come up together.
We bring blankets, and food and our sense of awe.
There was warm blackberry cobbler with ice cream, cookies, and I made lemon tarts.
We ate all this divine food while waiting for the moon to arrive.
And of course it did, as it always does, with its usual gentle grace.
Here is our B. communing with her soul mate....
And being out there again made me think of the other C. in my life. For she too has been to this spot with those girls. [It would have made the evening complete had you been here!]
We stayed until the moon was casting our shadows on our blankets and until I took pity on C. who needed to go home and get tucked up in bed.
It was a tender and auspicious way to slip into our series of grand adventures.... here at the edge of the wilderness where the Moon Princess held court at Summer Solstice.
