It's true, the garden has dominated most of my time these last few weeks, but it's not the ONLY thing that's gotten done around here. :-)
While C. was here and wanted to dabble in watercolor, it gave me the perfect opportunity to finish a project I had been wanting to get to.
Now that my friend has received this painting, I can show it here....
This is a Dorcas Gazelle.
This was the photo that captured my heart...
It was intimidating to paint, and I had to make two attempts. But I like how it turned out.
It's a bit out of my comfort zone considering most of my watercolors look more like this...
I have been wanting to do more watercoloring, but have come up against this... intimidation factor, which is very common in the creation of art. There is a strategy to fix that, and it's called.... quantity not quality. A sort of beginner's blitz of making art almost daily. Not overthinking it. But just getting used to seeing and feeling how your tools WORK.
I watched a video not long ago by this very enthusiastic young woman who keeps an art journal where she paints everyday things as often as possible.
I have looked at a LOT of art journals, and her way appealed to me the most.
So a few days ago I ordered the same blank journal that she uses and have decided to give it a go.
According to the FedEx tracking spies, my journal should arrive today.
And we will see what kind of watercolor art journal chops I really have.
Or not.
Stay tuned.
