Mysterious Doings
Mon Jun 29 2020

I had such an unusual and busy week last week, I didn't know if I was coming or going. The 'busy' included enjoyable and challenging things, but it was just a bit... crowded, if you know what I mean.

Today I felt like I had gotten on top of my usual pile of things to do and I carved out some time to paint two little birds I saw on Pinterest not long ago.

Here's my rendition:

I was mildly happy with it, but not in love. So not in love that I did something I have rarely done to a painting....

I got out the scissors.

NOW I am in love. Completely and utterly.

I understand that I chose this bird over the other one, but it was STILL in the other painting. I also know that this is a close up version. But I am just a little confused at the transformation of this piece of the puzzle. Now it looks like an illustration from a book, instead of a perfectly nice little painting of two birds. And I am so VERY happy with this now.

I feel like I want to make a whole series of objects and then cut them out.

If anyone has any insight into what just happened, I'd like to hear your theories.

Truly. I'm floundering around trying to understand it.

What a dramatic change. I can’t put my finger on it either

You just put him in the spotlight. Which is perfect. Thanks for sharing your creativity. L

You made it the solitary focus and you removed all the back ground which was white. You almost give it a 3 D effect. If you had washed the back ground of the original it might be the same. But this stands out on its own. I love how it looks!

Brilliant! I'll have to ponder why, but I love it, too! Not to say I didn't like the two birds together. They were very sweet. But now.... :)

I like them both but I do like the blue bird best. I would glue a tab or paperclip on the back so it would stand up on its own and put on my windowsill. 🙂
