Genie as a Shrink
Mon Sep 13 2004

Today I have been testing this link from Yetzirah’s diary - “Journal Genie” - quite original program, that looks for underlying emotions in any text – well – DD Entry, in that instance - and tells you what’s your psychological state was, when you wrote this entry.

Was pretty interesting experiment after all. I’ve run all my entries through that smart Genie and was quite surprised with the results. Most of the entree’s moods she guessed reasonably correctly with few exceptions. She‘s got it right about Party Time [*“Genie Says: "I'm picking up on a lack of concentration or some vaguely defined emotion that is troublesome for you.” [*ROFL: Concentration? At the Party? You damn right, Lady Genie – total lack of it! ]

But also she’s got me confused about my personal favourite entry “Perfect Picture”:
Genie Says: "Forgive me for being so forward, but I can't shake the impression that you might be avoiding certain feelings of responsibility. Maybe you're even feeling shame. At some point though, it's important to acknowledge such feelings, make the Big Apology (even if the only one you're apologizing to is yourself) and let go of it before feelings fester or magnify out of control. Are you ready to let go? If not now, when? "

Made me to read my own entry once more! And re-read. And again [*grrrrrrrrrr..just couldn’t find that shame in my sudden outburst of artistry!]. So, guess, here Lady was completely wrong wrong wrong! [*sticking her tongue out]

But overall I think, it is great fun and I would recommend it to anyone, who’s not too lazy to do a boring job of cut&pasting.

I’ve been thinking after Genie’s revelations: why do we fall for such things? Why do we constantly trying out silly tests, quizzes, etc? What is that about us that we don’t know already? Why people are so inquisitive about themselves, when there are so many other territories to explore?

Maybe instead of digging deep into self we could be better off taking a trip to someone else’s mind, especially, when invited?... Sometimes the artist has this power to lead his reader from observer to participant. But do we always take the offer?...

Somehow dejection fell upon me after Genie’s trials. And the evening was concluded with poetry and Russian romantic song

that's a nice site. i went in there though i havent really pursued by fillin up the form for a free trial.

sometimes we need a site like this to reveal what was goin on when we wrote an entry. cuz even to our own selves, we tend to deny some emotions we feel if only to make good about ourselves. oh, now i couldnt deny that.

Do we know ourselves? Or let’s say, are we satisfied about what we know of ourselves? I think the answer is no! most of the times. I believe we are in a constant process of searching and exploring ourselves and each day we discover some thing about us.

At any given opportunity, we try to get confirmations and feedbacks about the perceptions we have over ourselves. We always try to clarify and confirm with others whether we are on the right track and whether our thinking and behaviors are compatible with others. May be it can be called as a comparison of our thinking with other’s.

We always try to portray our selves to others in the way we think we are. So this may be another reason that we may want to understand how others feel of our thinking, performance and imaginations.

I believe, that we are so concerned and so uncertain about our future, this too leads us towards the constant search about ourselves, as to how we will meet our future

Maybe we don't always take the trip, but what do we have to lose? I know that with my boring life, sometimes it just might be a breath of fresh air to look at the world I live in through someone elses eyes. How cool is that?
