How Not To DIY.
Sun Oct 24 2004

Warning: picture of horror right in the entry!

It all started quite innocent: we dismantled built-in cupboard in our living room. (few reasons for getting rid of that old-fashion “feature”, but the main was – my “clever” plan to redecorate the room with total lack of understanding what does re-de-co-rat-ing mean)

Well, the cupboard’s gone and so has hope for any kind of completing of the “repairs” in reasonable time. First, we stumbled upon the ceiling. In almost real sense – there were no ceiling inside that damn cupboard and we only discovered that once took the thing out. We have been thinking what to do about it for a couple of weeks, asking advices from other DIY-crazy ppl, reading DIY books…finally we’ve got bored as we couldn’t find any easy way to do what we want. So…now we decided …to try flooring instead…
Yep – we’ve started to take off the flooring boards! [*Now- go figure how this could help us with the ceiling?!]
Actually, as in everything else, there is some distant sense in this, don’t think we are just of those unfortunate fools who think they can build a house. Once again – it was another of my “bright” ideas – to add few mains sockets “for convenience” [*evil laugh]…Obviously, I had no idea, that we would need to take off the floor for that, honestly!
Anyway…my lovely living room now looks like a Halloween Hall of Horror and it is same dangerous as well…
[*now planning a party for particular favourite friends – “See If You Can Walk This Floor” party. Any volunteers? ;-) ]

Actually, now I'm thinking of organizing a sweepstep competition - who can guess what will go down next in our house? Is it:
A. window frame
B. walls
C. chimney
D. the whole house
E. nextdoor house as well as the whole house

[honestly, any useful advise appreciated...and when I said "useful" I meant - USEFUL :-p]

Introspection can lead one to a variety of crossroads. It's easy to choose the wrong one and become lost.

On the other hand, sometimes the signposts are clear and unequivocal. We just need to be able to read them.

"Tigger is all right really," said Piglet lazily.
"Of course he is," said Christopher Robin.
"Everybody is really," said Pooh. "That's what I think," said Pooh.
"But I don't suppose I'm right," he said.
"Of course you are," said Christopher Robin.

    Of course you are....

a sub floor and tile would look nice. as far as the ceiling is it sheet rock? if so you can piece it. If not what is it plaster? just sheetrock and then plaster. You do have a mess but it actually looks promising. Cheer up, you will love it when you are done. LOL
