Me And Shopping?
Wed Feb 02 2005

In reference to the comment I feel I need to clarify more on the whole “curtains” issue…

This involves shopping for them, right? So…Me and Shops. We hate each other. I think, I’ve got an allergy to the shops and they…well, they just fail to see potential buyer in me therefore hide all the stuff I need to get from the shelves as soon as they see me coming…

Seriously…when the dreaded moment comes that there is a need to buy something, the process occurs in following order:
- Me- allocate half-day /day for buying that particular product
- Me- plan shopping route very carefully, including all the car parking, travel time and walking between the shops
- Me- go to the shops without hope in advance and in a bad mood already
- Me- see something “about right”
- Doubt over one thing…
- Hour later – go away “to think it over”
- Return. Doubt again
- Go away to see what’s in other shops
- Repeat in every next shop
By the end of a day in the last 30 min before closing time make a decision, which could be one of a two:
- To buy because I’m tired, fed up and generally “not in a mood”
- Not to buy and repeat whole painful process again next weekend.
Next weekend – return to the shop, having made final decision to buy – find it’s being sold out.

No, it is not fun at all – to shop with me! :-(

A woman is motivated by feel... by how the object fits the room... does it do the job and look perfect within the scheme... a man is motivated by the function... does it perform the desired task... at a resonable price...

Well, how do you expect to explain anything so esoteric as color harmony, fitness of fabric, and personal taste to a mind that's permanently filled with baseball, football, and boobs?

Well, there are some artists out there who understand color and form, but even they, I think, would balk at buying curtains. Especially since black leather just doesn't work at windows.

Ah well. Men have their ways and we have ours. And I can't help feeling they are missing a whole lot of interesting stuff.

    Shalom

Men are just lazy when it come to home decor.. Now send a man to pick up a power tool. and see what the choices include. Send me to get same power tool and I will purchase the one on sale. Not the one that a man will want to know how much power, how much guarantee, what kind of parts and jobs are able to be done.. etc, etc.
Yes, we are very different. I understand about curtains. I had some real nice ones that were fine in my old home, but do NOT work here at all!
Strange but true. I have them laundered and safekeeping in a box.. somewhere.. I think they are somewhere around here
You are so much fun ..
Enjoy your day and the drive to curtain store
    :)
Wish I could join you.. I'll bet you are very fun to shop with... this from a lady who doesn't like to shop
    :)
