Positive
Check this out! Once I’ve mentioned what cuddly toys IT guys like to play with, now I’d like to add about what quizzes IT guys like to challenge each other with.
Google Earth is the coolest satellite imaging software I’ve ever seen! You can download it for free on your computer and – possibilities endless! You can travel across the Globe with amazing speed and see amazing landscapes, you can find your own house, how it looked from the satellite…or anybody else’s for that matter. How cool is that?! You can zoom in or out and visit places you’d never dream visiting! There is already a community there – people finding remarkable landmarks all over the world and share them – try it – you won’t be disappointed!
A word of warning though from their site:
Something you should know about Google Earth (beta)...
Google Earth is a broadband, 3D application that not all computers can run.
• Apple Macintosh computers are not supported at this time (but we are working on it).
• Windows-based desktop PCs older than 4 years old may not be able to run it.
• Windows-based notebook PCs older than 2 years old may not be able to run it.
Better check if you can run it before trying to download ;-)
Well, do I need to say now, that for the last few days our office has been filled with the screams of excitement, when somebody found a sight worth seeing? And that as soon as we all got absolutely hooked on the thingy, the Great Challenge began. Every now and then someone would find an interesting landmark, hide the signs around the location and get the rest of us to guess, what is it his Google shows…its such a fun and so addictive too! I wonder if any company has already put forward a claim to Google for disruption of business…hmmmmm…But then again – it is all very educating as well as fun, not just some silly simulator game.
Ok, so that’s a positive something to brighten up day. As for the
Negative.
OK...why all the good intentions end up in disappointments? I've been meaning to reinstall one of the old servers and never had time to actually get to it...before Germany managed to do first part of install, the OS, now, finally, sorted out all the other mess and with anticipation walked to the server, really looking forward (well, not really, but these things got to be done sooner or later, so lets say I’ve prepared myself for the challenge). And what did I discovered, once there?
SOMEBODY NICKED SECOND SCSI DRIVER FROM IT! And to think of it – who on earth might’ve want an old (really OLD) scsi drive from a broken server?! It isn’t even pretty to be a souvenir! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....what a bunch of people - never leave personal belongings with such!
Question
that came in my mind today:
If it is called a wed - lock, does it means - there are chains involved in the process?
Laugh
that a friend shared and I might just pass through to anyone who needs a good laugh in the end, or beginning, or in the middle of their day:
I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me, and we could all do with a little calm. By following the simple advice I read in an article, I have finally found inner peace.
The article read: "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish off all the things you have started".
So I looked round the house to see all the things I had started and hadn't finished. And before leaving the house this morning I finished off a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine, the Baileys, three Bacardi Breezers, the Jack Daniels, the Prozac, some Valium, some cheesecake and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how bloody good I feel.
You must pass this on to those you feel are in need of inner peace.
