They Shouldn't Have To...
Fri Sep 02 2005

To those poor souls, who lost their lives to merciless Katrina…

They shouldn’t have to…

The warning was 2 days ahead…was it not enough at least to stock on food and water and arrange the transportation for those who can’t make it on their own?

They shouldn’t have to…

The super technology of super state sends rockets to the stars, designs advanced military techniques, big money promised into the research of new sources of energy…apparently, technology was not advanced enough to put the better levees in the city so accustomed to the natural disasters…or was it money again?

They shouldn’t have to…

The World offered to help, yet Super State refuses the proposals…Common, its really not the right time for national pride…there are people there, their lives, their everything…

They shouldn’t have to…

This was a disaster with advanced warning, yet there was no working plan for recovery operation…makes me wonder what would’ve happened in case of unexpected disaster such as terrorist’s attack?...

From Homeland security website: “President Bush has nearly tripled homeland security discretionary funding. More than $18 billion has been awarded to state and local governments to protect the homeland.… The President's 2005 budget reflects a 780 percent increase in funding for first responders since September 11th. Since September 11th, more than a half-million first responders across America have been trained…

The question being asked: is it worth it?

They shouldn’t have to die with the whole country helplessly watching them dying…those who was able to, fled long before…those who couldn’t move out…were rid off…does this look like a “natural selection” with some bushy flavour to it?

We all should ask ourselves: has everything possible been done to prevent what's happenned from happenning?

And another question my mind is wondering about: will this affect the awareness of our readiness for any disaster to come? so far it seems that there is little difference if the country affected by disaster is the richest rich state or the poorest poor...people act the same everywhere...they are TRYING TO SURVIVE...

but human as we are, people are people. some would not heed warnings. some are too optimistic to stay and hope maybe it will divert direction. it is probably that optimism that says within, "maybe it wouldnt be as worse as it was predicted." then regret is realized in the end...

the damage to property was mind boggling.
the devastation to lives is irreparable.
the former will take years to rebuild,
the latter will take a lifetime to forget.

we got plane loads of the survivors up here.. miles from the south.. I have no idea why..
I wonder why Utah is always in the front trying to offer help to other, when we have so many homeless and helpless right here on our streets.. Seems like we should help.. I am for that, but help our citizens who live here first..
I can see this becoming a big mess in future months.. But, It may all work our well..
The school district where they've been told to prepare for a thousand more displaced children are having emergency meeting trying to figure out how they can possibly meet these needs..
And who's kids will suffer from this?? all!
Gas prices are up to above $3.00 mark and yet we continue to be the largest users of petrol in all the world.. Yeah, it is sure enough past time for us to wake up..
    What a mess!
