Thingish Things

We spent whole day at friend’s - helping them to move to another house…I must say, that after we’ve returned home, I gave myself an oath to go through our stuff and throw away all the useless junk…I saw how it is awful to have too much stuff…I watched today how people become the slaves of their possessions…when they can no longer part with what they have, even if it’s the most useless thing in the world…
I offered to help them to sort out their load and guaranteed I can decrease it by half the least…they haven’t been enthusiastic about it though…so I left it as it is. Of course I do have useless things in my house too…hmmmm…let’s see if I can name few…I think, this could be a funny game – can you list 5 most useless things in your house? So…I guess, first useless thing would be my soft toys…2 teddy bears, 5 monkeys and Monkeyfrog. Monkeyfrog is a monkey, but weirdly coloured – in bright green…(ewww) He hangs on his monkey’s hands from the lamp’s frame in our sitting room and pretends he is a frog. It is interesting, that looking at the green monkey, I don’t see it as “a monkey that is green”, but rather see it a s a frog with too long hands…I don’t know why this “colour” association wins over the “sight” association. I wonder if I would bring a toy to the new audience, telling them beforehand that they will see a frog. Then show them a monkey…what would they see at a first glance? How much our brain involved into activity of creating the image? We look- and we immediately know what is it exactly in front of our eyes. I KNOW it is a monkey, but I SEE it as a frog [~why frog?! because it’s green, duh!] – isn’t it all fascinating? …So back to the list…those toy things are definitely useless in my life…
The second useless thing…two wonderful zig-zag shelves…yes, if anybody read my early notes, they probably recall now, how I’ve heroically screw them on and had this ingenious plan to hang the shelves in the living room…well…what can I say…when you’ve got a brilliant idea, act on it as quickly as you can! Otherwise in time your ingenious idea will lose her ingenuity…all this time since I’ve put “few” screws in these shelves, they’ve been kept in the garage “for the right time”…and when the right time finally came, it turned out it was the right time, but not for these shelves…I’ve tried them on, but didn’t like them any more…and off they go…to my list of useless things in my house…
I am actually, running out of the objects that I can put into the “Useless” list…hmmm… [~looks around trying to find some more uselessness]
Perhaps, next time I will add some more…and I’m literally falling asleep at that very moment…it’s 2:10 am here and this is not a good time to go into search expedition around the house…so it does make sense to say: enough of useless blabbing of a sleepy mind which doesn’t make sense any more…
