Barriers…we constantly build them…then we surmount them…barriers in carrier, in relationships, in friendships, in love, in life…Life is complex as it is, yet we work hard to make it even more complicated…
It feels like our lifetime story has been translated into bureaucratic statement, a list of what we’ve got, what our purposes are, how we should get them accomplished…and everything should be as it should be…and life should be a struggle, a thorny path, an overcoming of the barriers…and if there is none on our way, it’s a shame, coz “everybody should have them”…and so we make up non existing obstacles, we devise unreasonable excuses, we put up walls to protect us from the enemy of our own invention…then we give up to despair and hide from shame…building even more barriers…
A never-ending circle…when in fact…what does matter? Simple things, really…to be content with what you’ve got, to enjoy learning new things, to have friends that you trust…think of it...everything else you'd wish for could easily be built on top of that...and all you need to do - find a key to unlock the gates to get in…or out for that matter…The lock is on YOUR side, don't wait for someone to open it for you...Be comfortable in your own life...if not - change it...don't be lazy, get off your couch and discover something new...treat your friends the way you want to be treated by them...and if some times you find no one near, that might just be that they are busy crashing their own barriers...forgive them and smile when they are back...
Of course all the above was not intended as a boring set of old morals...it is more like a mantra of something that I'm trying to convince myself...as well as the result of having stumbled on these beautiful words of my favourite Rumi:
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."

- From:Windchimes (Legacy)On:Tue Sep 06 2005i have barriers around me. i have built it so high and thick even i couldn't break it down. i am afraid i'll forever be locked up. like rapunzel caged in a high tower, i have flowed out my hair in case someone will come and find its way to me. but i guess, he aint coming that way, so i had my hair cut short. either he climbs up the wall or jumps out from a flying horse. then i will know he's my knight in bruised armor. lol.
