We always have to make a choice. Choices of various scales and consequences. How well we manage to make them? How to tell if what you chose, is the right thing? You can never tell, for you can never try the other one to compare. I believe choices are the hardest labor of human mind. Sometimes it feels that the best choice would be deliberately refuse to see alternatives. Being unaware of what "what if" helps to move forward with confidence.
Decisions…decisions…it’s always a choice to make, eh? As a Windows administrator I’m officially entitled to hate Microsoft. And I do. I really do. Easter gift from Mr Gates – critical security updates on the last day before the holiday. So you’ve got a choice – to risk security and leave server update until after Easter break or to risk your Easter break and press the “red” reboot button. Risk involved because with Microsoft you never know what next system patch is going to break. So if it does break something, my Easter bunnies will be hopping around in a server room…on the other hand, maybe it is because I’m a woman, I don’t do decision making very well. I doubt, hesitate, re-think over and over again, until it’ll be too late…men are different, I believe. They just said: “go for it” and switched the server off before I managed to find out if we’ve got recent decent backup…anyway, that was Easter Office Rant, just to heat things up a bit for the holiday mood. For the weather refused to do so. And the sun which was here only two days ago has now moved out to undeclared destination. So we might even cancel our plan to go to Avebury this weekend. And I was so looking forward to it – we haven’t touched those ancient stones for the whole long winter!
From the other hand – this might be the last opportunity to have a truly relaxing break, as the summer is coming and I envisage him to be madly busy, as always…sometimes it feels that I already dream of Autumn to come! But today it is still Easter, isn’t it? So I’ve treated me with Easter egg – kinder surprise, of course! If I define Easter as the time when we get to open kinder surprise eggs, then for me there will be Easter at least twice a month! I’ve got a collection of toys living on top of one of my servers. And I must say it’s one happy crowd on there!

But today my Easter egg disappointed me. I’ve got…Zombi from Monster Hotel series! Not exactly Easter Bunny, huh? I’m sulking and contemplating an idea of banning kinder surprises in this office…for a week or so…
Anyway, back to the Easter…you know, what I’ve noticed: some kid’s poetry could be so cruel, just like chiller, really. I remember how in my childhood certain verses would frighten us, especially, when being read by some mean adult with a specific eerie voice…anyway, I totally convinced that kid’s poetry should be nice and clean and funny, and soft, cuddly and giggly. But you try to find a cute Easter poem out there and what would come up first? A bunny eating horror!
Chocolate Easter bunny In a jelly bean nest,
I'm saving you for very last Because I love you best.
I'll only take a nibble From the tip of your ear
And one bite from the other side So that you won't look queer.
Yum, your'e so delicious! I didn't mean to eat
Your chocolate tail till Tuesday. Ooops! There go your feet!
I wonder how your back tastes With all that chocolate hair.
I never thought your tummy Was only filled with air!
Chocolate Easter bunny In a jelly bean nest,
I'm saving you for very last Because I love you best.
I mean – does anybody analyze what’s going into our kid’s ears? I believe some Freudians would find masses of odd stuff in it. Anyway, instead of bright and sunny easter entry all I’ve managed so far was –rant rant rant..rant about work, rant about eggs, rant about poetry…I think, now it is a good time to compensate this by a good wish of Happy Easter Holiday to all! Keep your eggs rolling!
