Not exactly a cheer yet
Wed Dec 20 2006

Somewhere back in September I’ve found a beautiful quote:
when someone hurts us, we should write it down in the sand, where the winds of forgiveness get in charge of erasing it away, and when something great happens, we should engrave it in the stone of the memory of the heart, where no wind can erase it…
Gee, I need to find an uninhabited island with long sandy beaches…

Or a nice expanse of really really fluffy deep snow. Then fogiveness has two options: to blow it away or melt it!!!

I think that it's more natural to write pain in stone. We want to remember pain so we can avoid it. Pleasure is more fleeting because we have less reason to hold on to it - perhaps because we are too busy enjoying it, or because the very act of engraving the joy turns the joy into a chore?

Perhaps that is why it is so important to do so consciously, as you say?

    Great quote.

    merry christmas
    christmas is about forgiveness
christ was nailed to the cross but he forgave
    yikes
I think it is harder to remember joy because it is just incorporated into our lives like a breath of fresh wind that keeps us alive
but when we are hurt we are threatened and that is engraved deeply

oh what a beautiful christmas shrine this journal is

    merry christmas beautiful russian svetlana
