Before The Year Ends
Sat Dec 30 2006

So they hanged the man. Done with the evil…hmmmm…each of us gets what we deserve in the end…and so the Iraqis received their freedom and democracy… slightly smoked by the car bombs explosions, slightly lopsided to the English-speaking side of the family, with the slight taste of blood on the lips that deliver victory speeches while observing fellow countrymen killing each other…each gets what they deserve…

It might be just me, but I see the secrecy of the hanging as declaration of the fear that is still there, and I see the act of giving body to the family to bury and most likely to make a martyr’s shrine as an attempt to please the opposition…It might be just me, but I found it strange that the timing chosen for the execution fell “conveniently” between Christian festivities, so less of us would care what’s going on in the world, and “conveniently” on the first day of the Islamic holiday of Eid ul-Adha (btw: The Festival of Sacrifice, Commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son for God), when most of the Muslims would be occupied with the spiritual celebrations, many gone to Mecca.

It is also might be just me, but I found it kinda funny, that the death warrant has been signed by Mr Al-Maliki, the latest prime minister of Iraq (which is of course, has nothing strange about it, as you would expect such post to be responsible for such a decision) But the “funny” bit that makes me hem is a quote from his speech in October this year when he said: "I consider myself a friend of the U.S., but I'm not America's man in Iraq.”…reminds me of the previous “friend” of America, who has been hanged, obviously,  “for the friendship”…

So, the evil man has finally gone to hell. The question however is still there: has the hell stopped for Iraqis?

Excellent post. I think the violence will carry on...I can only continue to hope for peace on earth. It's almost a new year so it is the perfect time to be hopeful.

Happy Almost New Year to you.
