Psychosis: 1. In psychiatry, any mental disorder in which the personality is very seriously disorganized. a. functional, that is, apparent lack of organic cause, schizophrenic or manic-depressive. b. organic, pathalogical organic condition such as general paresis, brain tumor or alcoholism etc.
( What the heck is “paresis” ? ) oh dear. . . “ a disease of the brain caused by syphilis”
I was GOING to flippantly discuss what I perceive to be my temporary psychosis caused by the monthly hormonal fluctuations I am currently experiencing. But this trip into the bowels of the lexicon has sobered me up a bit.
Perhaps psychotic is not a word to be bandied about lightly. Especially the syphilis part. Icky. But I do relate to the “very seriously disordered personality” bit. The things my temporarily disordered personality can cook up at this time of the month are truly bizarre and to be feared.
Add to the mix certain food cravings and you have yourself a well rounded mental disorder on your hands. As evidence, I am having cravings for a nice big greasy bacon sandwich. When one is a Jew who keeps kosher you will see how I might look like someone with one eye way bigger than the other, walking with a twitch.
I have contented my petite psychosis with soy based artificially flavored imitation bacon bits with an O U (kosher) symbol on the front. But the unnerving thing is that there was only one tablespoon of them left in the container and now I’m faced with the dilemma of allowing someone experiencing a psychotic episode to drive to the store for more of them.
I think not.
I don’t know WHAT to feed her right now to appease the hormone disorder. I might have to resort to the last few Oreos in the cookie bin.
Oh my, there are only 2 of them left, hardly an adequate dose under these circumstances.
I wonder if I could fool her with a large bowl of cooked broccoli ?
You don’t think ?
Oh dear.
Now where do you suppose I put those restraints ? I know they’re around here somewhere…..
Okee dokee, gotta go now. :-)
