What would life be without them ?
In the last few weeks for various reasons and with various friends, I have been reminded how immensely valuable they are in my life. I wonder how much money we all save in therapy when instead we talk to a trusted friend. (apologies to any therapists among us)
Sometimes there is nothing that can replace a good friend when it comes to certain subjects that need to be discussed. Often our family is too close to the situation, or they ARE the situation and we need a person one step removed from the middle of the fray to help us gain perspective.
And for sure, a really good friend will tell you when you are being a real dufus. This quality is worth it’s weight in gold. Because let us face it, sometimes we are truly royal pain in the kazoomba dufuses and need to be told such.
Now a days, not only do we have our “present” friends, but we have “cyber” friends that we have never met face to face. And funny, this does not necessarily diminish their impact on our lives. It is just another kind of relationship. Much like the old fashioned pen pal.
Anyway, I just wanted to acknowledge that I would probably be an unbearably arrogant snob or blubbering somewhere in a long term psych ward, were it not for all the good friends that God has seen fit to send my way.
So, to all my friends, near and far…may you all be blessed with wisdom, peace and joy. And thanks for all the good advise.
