Is it a Story or not ?
Mon Jun 16 2003

Been working on a little short story most of the day. If not with pen to paper, then thinking it over. I finally DID write it all down, and now I have to type it up. I am wondering if the voice recognition software will come in the mail tomorrow, I might give it a try. Since I have something to read into the computer, it might be easier than straight dictating.
It's an interesting experiment. But we shall see. I am willing to give it a real try, but am also skeptical at this point...

I wrote this little story from a flash of an idea one day, and I realized that it was an excuse not to work on the larger one I have in the works!
Oh how subtle a deceiver I am! Even fooled myself for a day or two...

I am not sure if fiction is my strength. But I am exploring it. I have to give it a try, I feel compelled to. And I have to stop looking at each attempt with such SERIOUSNESS. They are like drawings, sometimes they turn out well and sometimes you crumple them up and do another one. But when you think about it, most of our lives, writing has always been this serious business. Either for school or work or some other important life thing. It is difficult to switch from this kind of mode, to a different, playful creative one where your words are like paint or pencil and do not necessarily mean anything until you are ready to say that they do...

I don't know if this makes any sense, but I put it down here because this is what I have been mulling over today.

If I can get the story into any semblance of order, I may post it here later on. We shall see how the paint looks when it's dry :-)

You really can't tell if you like the paint until all the furniture is moved back in.

So, what the hey! Write on!

I for one can't wait to see the brushstrokes! Post it up soon and if you could send the muse over it would be welcome!

Keep on playing with those story ideas. I believe you learn more through play than any other method. ;-)
