Surprise!
Sun Aug 31 2003

Arrived at 12:30 at night at my parents. I don't remember going to bed, but must have... The next morning we were expecting my middle son and his wife to come down from a town about 85 miles away. In the morning I heard the door bell and ran to answer it. And there on the front porch was my YOUNGEST son and his girlfriend come over 300 miles to see us all. I was SO surprised. Then An. and T. showed up about an hour later...Two out of three kids is not bad :-) The other one is moving into his new house with his wife and daughter in another state this week. So they are a little busy...

We have been having a blast. The girls went shopping and we "did lunch". The boys all went off to shoot guns at things. I will not tell you the gory details that we were regaled with last night at the dinner table. (Something about digger squirrel entrails) ...

At my parents place, you are likely to see any number of wild animals. Including one of these.

Isn't he a beauty?

I am off to see a friend today and go collecting thistle down that is ready in a certain spot we know about. I will use it to add to my homemade paper that I WILL be making in October...... Come October, things are going to be different. That's the PLAN !

Oh. BTW, to my Foul Weather Friend, I just missed you in town. Saw our mutual friend TGA in front of Raley's. We waited around a while hoping to see you, but had to get home. Certainly next time up we will meet as my destination is right where you are ! :-)

Oooh, homemade paper, lovely! We have thistle blooming now. Sounds like a wonderful weekend, much deserved. I find myself looking forward to October on your behalf! Although I LOVE this time of year, the hot weather just broke, and it is again tolerable outside (though of course it decided to rain this weekend!). I don't want to be wishing it away. Life is good.

Thistle for paper making ?Thistle is bursting from it's case here too. Yesterday I watched a tiny, vivid-yellow bird, perched on a thistle pod...picking the silk from it. I have experimented with paper making and hope you will write more about ... how you use thistle for this?...thanks...love the picture (excuse punctuation-English is my second language)

When you saw TGA I was sitting in my car in front of The Dollar Tree waiting for him to come out. We probably just missed each other by nanoseconds. (I'm pretending to know exactly what 'nano' means)

The wildlife up here is amazing, isn't it?
I'm really glad you had a chance to visit your 'friend'...I know she misses you much. Take care...and God Bless!!!
