There's a Toad on My Couch!
Sat Oct 04 2003

Stew in the Crock Pot. Challah rising in the kitchen. Bread table cleaned off. Gourds to craft this winter picked out and purchased.
All’s right with the world.

Slowly but surely the chaos is giving way to order. Not without several delays and postponements on my part. I took time this morning to read some more in Dr. Phil’s Weight Loss Solution book and do some journaling there. Okay, so 10 pounds doesn’t sound that difficult to lose right? But it’s a stubborn, tenacious, vicious pile of blubber, make no mistake about it.

Ever try to get a toad out of a hole?

Sounds gross I know, but once I found a toad under a plant that I was wanting to dig up and move. He was a pretty good sized toad too. I just wanted to move him so I could dig near where he was. I had my thick work gloves on, so didn’t think much about picking him up and placing him in another part of the garden. BUT when I tried, he sort of puffed up and wedged all his four legs into the sides of his little toad depression and would NOT be moved. It was kind of gross actually. I tried twice to get him out, but gave it up in squeamish disgust.

So I am officially naming my ten extra pounds the “Toad Fat”.

But this time, I cannot be squeamish. I need to be more stubborn than the toad. And I CAN be very stubborn !

I am trying out the Zone way of eating. Carefully balancing protein, carbohydrates, and fats. His theory is that when we eat too much of any one of those (usually carbohydrates) our insulin levels go whacko and we store fat. So I am doing a scientific study of his theory. One good side effect of this way of eating is that I am actually eating more fruits and vegetables, something that I wanted to do anyway. (With a special thanks to the New Zealand friends for giving us the Kiwi… I have been eating them often and enjoying everything about them. What a delightful little fruit!)

So, the Toad Fat is on notice. . . I have a shovel and I am NOT afraid to use it!

Okay, time to braid challah. The first homemade challah in weeks and weeks and weeks!

Oh,here is a picture of the new furniture in our house.

    Your living room looks fabulous!

It is nice to hear someone who is so appreciative of getting their life back! Nothing is more frustrating than coming home and seeing all the projects you want to work on, but not having the time to work on them. A glimpse of my dining room table and kitchen island would illustrate that frustration quite nicely...

Didn't the dining room used to be where the new furniture is now? Looks very nice, but I think maybe one more piece. A coffee table?

If Mr. Toad didn't want to move, you could have shoveled him off. You were going to dig up a plant, weren't you? Well, Mr. Toad can go right along with the shovel.

Ten pounds, Yetz? C'mon. You look good now.

    Shalom

I am covetous of the new furniture I love the colours and checked cushions. I cheer you on with the diet and wish I had an ounce of willpower- try this site I found it yesterday and it rocks www.virtualmodel.com where you can make an image of yourself and try clothes on it the clothes were kind of ugly but I had fun dressing up my dolly me! Plus you could programme it to have 10 pounds less as a visual incentive on how you will look without as a willpower aid.

    Love
Rach (who is probably being very annoying with all the comments- sorry!) xxxx
