Of Lists and Squeaky Pens
Wed Oct 08 2003

Like a bad habit or an old flame I've rummaged around and found my fine tipped fountain pen that I banished several months ago in a fit of disgust at its unreliability. I began craving its quirky company again today when I was trying to write with two or three different ballpoints and a rollerball that wrote okay but was making a squeaky noise that was beginning to sound like fingernails on a blackboard. I'm thinking if I just had a little pot of water nearby while I'm writing with this fountain pen, it would work fine. It's just once in awhile it suddenly goes dry for some unexplained reason. But a little dunk in water sets it right again. I have so many kinds of pens around the house it is disgraceful. Just disgraceful.

Its election day. It won't belong until we know the results. And we find out what's going to happen to Gray Davis and who's going to replace him. I wonder how many lawsuits that the Democrats will file tomorrow? They have no idea how they damage the confidence of the voters when they do that. Idiots!

I'm sitting in my old chair that has been brought in here to the bedroom, since there was no room for it when the new furniture came. The furniture in the living room is still smelly from the Scotchgard I sprayed on it early this afternoon, so I can’t sit in there yet. I'm looking out my window at a sunflower that's blooming away like it’s July instead of October. It's a beauty too. But frankly I'm ready for some storms. Rain, wind, cold, you know fall weather. But it looks like I’ll have to wait. The weather web site shows blue skies for days and days to come.

I'm only just beginning to clean my kitchen. Everything needs attention in there. I started with the fridge and the stove. The counter tops are tomorrow. I also went to get my haircut today. Woo Hoo it is short! Eeeek! But I like it. I'm so enjoying being at home, even though I'm not organized yet. I think it will probably take me to the end of this month to get everything done on my list. But it's MY list and I will work on it as I see fit! So there!

Cool, about the hair cut. Hope you're happy with it. I can't imagine that you really have too many pens. I think they disappear too often. Have as many as you want, at least you'll always be able to find one. ;-)

As a Pen-Geek, I completely understand your craving for a favorite (if cranky) old friend. I decided to start carrying my Waterman Phileas fountain pen with me to work, and I also use it when writing pen-pal letters. I had set it on the nightstand to use in my paper journal and, having ignored my paper journal for a long time, it dried out. It took a LOT of warm water, cleaning, and coaxing, but Phileas is back on its "feet" and keeping me company. It's lovely, lightweight, a joy to write with, and tends to impress people who never see fountain pens anymore.

    Write on!

You can never have too much stationary! Your a writer, woman! Would you expect a chef to have no knives? Well then! ;) As to the seal the other day it might have been a selkie.

    Love
