Tsunami Is Coming!
Fri Jan 09 2004

I’m freakin’ out here.

Let me see if I can explain.

A month ago, my hairdresser was robbed. Some thug came in and knocked her down and took her money drawer. In the drawer happened to be one of my checks that I had paid her with the day before.

She called me and I put a stop payment on it.

Then she called again today and said that Thug Man had altered one of her other customer’s checks that had been stolen and passed it off at a “check yourself out” station at a big store. Thug Man wrote it for $2300.00! So it was her recommendation that I close my old account just to be on the safe side.

So for the last 2 hours I have been doing just that. Opening a new account with a different bank and speaking with someone at the old bank about how to close our old one. They were very sympathetic and helpful and told me that if we see anything out of the ordinary with our account (which we can check on line) to call right away. She told me we won’t be held responsible for forged checks. And she waived the service fee that is sure to show up now that our balance at the old bank will below the allowable amount.

I am very upset. I am angry that he hurt a very nice woman for a few dollars, and has made her afraid to run her own business. I am nervous enough about money, without this kind of thing. I hate shuffling money around. It makes me feel very vulnerable.

I want to HURT Thug Man. I want Thug Man’s head on a platter.

The wave of hurt and trouble and wasted time and effort that one person can cause by being a blockhead is like a tsunami. I hope that when it breaks, he is right under it.

Ptui.

Oh, how awful for both of you. Hope you're feeling better soon. ;-)

BTW - I could go into a long detailed description of how our unemployment benefit works, but I just feel too annoyed with the situation at this point. Maybe I'll write it up as an entry. *But* our system is quite different from yours. ;-)

    me too

sometimes i wonder why some people do the things they do, some are given over to bringing ruin and pain into others lives. on the other hand, i guess its all a part of being human as even when we do not mean to bring harm we bring it (i'm thinking of the 2 nice guys who wrote my car off this week)
