Backyard Pictures
Wed Apr 14 2004

Here are pictures of our backyard. Sorry, that the flower bed along the back fence is in the shadow. What do you think of my high tech shade for the swing? It works very well, but don't show these pictures to the home decor police! I'd be in the clinker in a blink.

I think I am going to go out there and sit in that swing for a little bit. But you wait, I will spy some weed at 30 paces and have to get up and pull it!

I will try to resist for at least 10 minutes. :-)

I love the raised beds, I wish we could/would do that here.

I've hunted quite a bit for sweater/cardigan patterns for you. There are lots of books (search Google for 'crochet cardigan patterns') but very few free adult patterns. Most of them tend to be baby cardigans. I did find one that I rather like myself, and though it isn't in a half double crochet stitch, you might like it too.

I haven't stopped looking. Yesterday I was in Michaels and saw this book (long link, sorry) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0848724526/ref=pd_sim_books_2/104-2864822-8640728?v=glance&s=books#product-details
which had some very nice things in it. I didn't see a sweater but then I didn't know then that you were looking for one. I'll bet there are a couple in there, it was full of all kinds of different things to do.

I'll keep my eyes open -

See if you can find pattern books that show images of the stitches, one stitch at a time as you work through a pattern. There is one really good one called "Learn to Crochet the Mile a Minute Way", Rick insisted I buy it a couple of years ago and by the time I was done I could read patterns easily. It had picture images of each stitch, a swatch of what it would look like before, during, and after you'd made the stitch. Even though I already knew most of those stitches - single crochet, double crochet, chain stitch - it taught me the half double crochet too. Plus, it made a very pretty afghan. Look in my photo album at the afghan I made for my grandparents, the one in shades of rose and pink.

By the way, the picture - well, I'll just take a couple more. The three squares I posted yesterday - the first (green) is a single crochet, the rose is a half double, the white is a double. If you're out and looking, this afghan is the 63 Squares afghan, Walmart carries the book.
