Fun With Fontage
Thu Jun 03 2004

This is how full of ennui I am today. I'm using Ariel font. It is akin to sliding into a coma for me. The font queen.

My font collection languishes nowadays, because in the browser world it is difficult to share all one's exotica in the fontage department. This causes me no end of angst.

So listen up, you software developer types. Let's get this problem fixed. So if I want to use.... say

[album 65561 Font.jpg]

Then I could, without going into Paint, creating a JPG of it, sticking it in the photo album, and posting it all alone this way. I suppose one could compose an entry in paint. Is that possible? Now I'm curious.
Experiment time.

I'll be back in an inordinately long moment....just let me step into my laBORitory.

Here we go:

That was WAY too much trouble.

Perhaps we should set the "standard fonts" bar a lot higher so we can share lots of fonts together. It's the only answer. And if this is all I have to write about today, things must be in a sad state of affairs.

(Where's Ms. Manic when we need her?)

A worthy cause indeed bringing the world closer with the common bond of fonts. Those are really pretty fonts too it's a pity you can't use them to compose an entry with.

Does the font party need a treasurer? Actually scratch that I can't add for toffee maybe an envelope licker?

I share your angst. The browser world of fonts is very boring indeed. To add insult to injury, several of my favorite fonts even dissappeard from Word in our last, so called, upgrade. :(

It may be time to launch a grass roots campaign aimed at Microsoft. We could picket their e-mails with catchy little phrases like: Explore the WWW of Fonts or Font Freedom Now.

Oh dear, I think I know where Mrs. Manic went. Would you make her come home now. :)

Does Paint work in layers like Adobe? All you'd need to do is make a different layer for each font then.

Almost all of the fonts I loved and used the most are gone. I don't remember downloading them individually before, but I guess I must have after uploading the same programs I always had. Who knows. In the meantime, do you have any good links? ;o)

Just yesterday I was "this close" to actaully doing a whole entry as a .jpg. But when I scaned it at work it ended up a .pdf and I couldn't convert it. It was going to be really cool until it didn't work.

Pity you can't use those fonts all the time. ;-)

'Just type in "free fonts" in Google, and stand back.'

I do, I was just wondering if you had any favorites to start with. :o)
