Forgetful? That's Me!
Mon Oct 04 2004

Have been to the apple orchard in the boonies.

Lovely day for it too.

All day long the sky was filled with high wispy clouds, accompanied by some unusual miniature cumulus wanna bes that were giving a fair impression of rain, but it's the kind that never makes it to the ground. They all made a wonderful golden peachy orangey sunset as their curtain call this evening.

In my new "ditzy" mode of life lately, I forgot my camera, so no pictures of the old orchard from which we picked three shopping bags full of apples.

Hub Man has affixed the old hand crank apple peeler, corer, ring making contraption to the kitchen table, and I'm ready to do the apple butter thing tomorrow. Well, it will take more than one day. Looks like I might get three good batches along with some regular applesauce in the bargain. It will keep me out of trouble for a little while anyway.

Sorry about the pictures.

I just cannot be relied upon these days.

That's OK there is aways cider to make and the smell hangs around to this day from the Cider Mill across the street when I was a Lad.
It is warm tonite and has a heavy feel with some wood smoke from a few control burns they are doing.
I wish you could have seen the Bear foot prints I saw yesterday !BIG and he was walking standing for there were no front pad prints and we passed each other coming and going when I was hunting.
    My tracks and his .
Or could it be BIG FOOT is alive and well.

I love a good apple butter, and a pumpkin butter as well. I bought some apple butter at the harvest festival this weekend...nooootttt good.

Sounds yummy, I'd help if you let me take a couple of jars. :)

If you keep talking about apple butter I may just have to go make some. I have had quite the craving lately. Gee, I wonder why?

Hey, forgetting anything is forgiven. Would love to taste some of your apple butter, though. ;-)

I am definitely going to make that apple butter. Yummy!

I have an apple sauce strainer at Harvey's, I must be sure to collect it, along with my food processor. I'm planning on making one last haul and getting everything when I visit him on the 16th.

There is nothing better than a sunset on a cloudy evening.
