We listen and watch with horror to the reports coming from the areas struck by the tsunami disaster.

The enormous loss of life and property goes beyond my comprehension.

Anyone know of a RELIABLE charity that we can send money to?

It's good to see the response from all over the world for help to these stricken countries. I hope out of all the recommended charities you find one you feel good to donate to. ;-)

Oh I am so glad someone gave you so many addresses for donations. I was going to look some up, this helps. I hope you don't mind if I pass these addresses along too.
    Thank you.

I'm sure all the charities listed above can use your immediate help... in the long term you might be interested in things our church organizes. We have a huge humanitarian program in place. Our family has made it a tradition to collect the items and prepare humanitarian kits every year. Those kits are then distributed in times of crisis, all over the world.

With your renewed interest in crocheting/knitting, here's a link to other items that they collect throughout the year and distribute where needed. I'm sure there are other churches and charities that would accept similar donations...but this gives you an idea of things that are needed.

Doctors Without Borders. They will be among the first on the scene, and they offer what is most needed there right now. Link on my entry of 31 December.
