Kitchen Boogie
Thu Jan 13 2005

Will you look at that? We are almost half way through this month. Whaaaa?

I've been doing the FlyLady boogie in my kitchen/utility room this week. I have gone through cupboards and drawers and sorted and tossed and cleaned. I feel VERY virtuous. :-)

All that's left in there this week is to mop the floor.

I am especially motivated by her idea of not taking on too much at once. Dividing things into non-scary hunks seems to work well. And it defuses my anal retentive "let's get this OVER with" self and decreases the chances of "crash and burn out" housekeeping habits.

In the utility room, I found two bottles of soda water. They were two YEARS over their expiration date! When I opened them to pour them out.... they had no fizz at all! They were hiding behind the lightbulbs and waxed paper and cereal boxes. I am amazed at how much stuff we can gather by just doing nothing.

Now, when I go in there, I can see all my stuff, reach it, and use it without fear of something falling on my head! I have my stuff. My stuff doesn't have me! Yippeee!

Well, I am off to get my knitting needles and new yarn and see what kind of trouble I can get into.

I will leave you with this from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov:

"Everything in the world - whatever is and whatever happens -
is a test, designed to give you freedom of choice. Choose wisely."

Yeah, we rise or fall by the choices we make.
