The Latest
Mon May 09 2005

It is rather hard to believe it is May around here this morning. Thunder is crashing, chill winds are blowing and the rain is coming down in buckets. I have the heat on and finally gave in and put on the gas fireplace too. It is so dark and cloudy out, it feels like evening in here. I don't have enough light to knit the handle for the latest purse. I am going to have to re-locate myself to another spot to finish it up.

This one got finished late last week:

It was a special order :-)

I nipped out into the garden between rain showers and cut all the rhubarb that was ready. It was a pitiful handful, and only cooked up into a small bowl of sauce. Too bad. I think those plants have run their course and need to be replaced with new roots.

The rest of the garden however is in rare form. It is loving all the rain and cool weather. I have never seen it so green out there.

I am gearing up for a grocery foray after lunch. I have narrowed it down to two stores. I am making an effort to conserve gas by not running around too much. I was hoping these thundershowers would exhaust themselves before then, but at the moment it does not look promising. I better take my umbrella with me.

I will leave you with a few words from our feathered friend. . .

"Can't you people see I am a busy hen? I don't have time to make statements to the press every whip stitch. I'm sure you have something more important to do now, so get to it!"

Boy, she's grouchy today what, what?

Your rhubarb is petering out, and to #1's chagrin his rhubarb won't be ready for any harvest until next year. It must be a rhubarb cusp year.

I think we must be sitting under the same cloud. It has made Quilty a bit grouchy too. It has something to do with wet feathers. Just the thought of going out into the rain can make her cranky.

Love these bags. Our weather is being rather unseasonal, too. Hope the saving on fuel works out. ;-)
