Green Tea Buzz
Fri Jun 24 2005

The house smells like mushrooms.

Cooked ones.

With onions.

And oh yeah, stew beef.

In the crock pot.

Challah is thawing on the counter.

Blackberry cobbler is bubbling in the oven.

Shabbos must be coming!

I will make one observation about the green tea. I am not much of a caffeine drinker. And admittedly, tea is no where near as potent as coffee. But I think I can feel a little caffeine thing going on in my innards. I don't think I will be consuming VAST quantities of it. Just a little three times a day. Moderation!

In the article I read, it says you can make a snack by making regular jello only instead of plain water, you use brewed green tea. I made up a batch of raspberry and tried it. VERY good stuff! You can taste the tea, but it is only a secondary flavor, and almost gives the jello a floral taste. I like it.

When I went to get groceries yesterday, they had jello on sale, so I bought ten packages. I am SURE that will last me for 40 days!

But my favorite green tea experiment so far has been Celestial Seasonings Green Tea with Chamomile. It's a lovely blend. Just right.

Okay, off to finish up my chores.

Words of wisdom from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov:

"Always remember:
You are never given an obstacle
you cannot overcome."

Green tea and jello? What flavor jello?

I have three different packets of green tea. Generally use them for "something a little different" from my usual pekoe.

Ah, the smell of Shabbat cooking! Miserably absent from this household.

    Shabbat Shalom

Everyone is talking about dessert items in their diaries today it seems! The cobbler sounds divine, and my stomach is growling loudly. I think I need to go have a salad and see if I can trick my mouth into thinking it is cobbler.

My mom used to make her jello with 7-Up instead of water. It gave it a more crisp flavor and almost a bite to the texture. I may have to try doing mine with green tea next time. Sugar Free Jell-o is a staple in my house! The kids love it and it doesn't make them hyper, so I love it!

What a perfect quote for your new adventure.

I hope all the things said about green tea are true. I drink it every day and would like to think it is doing something good for me. :)
