The Rabbi Meets Groucho Marx
Fri Sep 09 2005

[album 65561 Bored Girl]This sort of describes my mood today. But I am going to do something about it. I'm not sure what yet, I'm thinking on it. I DO have some Three Stooges videos I could watch. I could stick straws up my nose. I could wear a Groucho Marx nose and mustache all day. Or I could just mope and eat a whole box of Jr. Mints. (Oh boy, here we go) Here are words of wisdom from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov on the subject:
"Finding true joy is the hardest of all spiritual tasks. If the only way to make yourself happy is by doing something silly, do it. Depression does tremendous damage. Use every ploy you can think of to bring yourself to joy."

Perhaps a clown suit..... hmmmmm. I want purple hair! And a green nose. And stripes, not spots. Excuse me, I have to go rummage in my closet....

I find blowing bubbles is always a lot of fun and lifts my mood. I don't mean the bubble gum kind, but who knows, maybe that will make you feel good, too. ;-)

Watch a Hugh Jackman movie, it works for me every time!

Maybe I'll watch Oklahoma! again today...

Something silly is in the air. WHOOPEE!

I kind of like stripes rather than dots. Stripes, properly arranged, can make me *think* I look slimmer.

I wonder if I could get away with another muffin from Peet's?

    Shalom

That Rabbi would be one smart man. Suffering from depression for so many years zapped my ability to find joy in life. These days I find it in the smallest things.

Thank you for inspiring an entry of my own!

    Hugs

Well, you made Me smile, for what that's worth! And that makes me think...

I heard on the radio one day that the physical act of smiling makes you feel better emotionally. They don't know what it works, but it does, which I have verified for myself just by trying it when I didn't feel especially happy. It feels like an odd little secret God added to the design and left for us to discover. I like it!

    Hugs,
    Ani
