My Peeps Are Watching Over Me
Thu Sep 08 2005

I sat here this morning daydreaming, wondering just what I was willing to tackle today. And I looked over to my right and had a good look at what is tacked onto my bulletin board. I decided it is a pretty fair microcosm of my life. The things stuck up there cover a 53 year span. Kids, postcards old and new, photos of friends, hiking trips, appointment cards, one wedding photo, lots of pictures of Robbie, the stupid smog papers for the car we have to deal with soon, and a drawing the Rabbi made one evening in class that believe it or not represents a very impressive "Ah Ha!" moment in my understanding of Kabbalah. Oh yeah, and my lamb's wool duster which is temporarily homeless because Hub Man's daughter has commandeered the hall closet during her extended visit with us.

Pretty much all my *peeps are watching over me from the wall over there. It's messy and chaotic which is something I don't generally enjoy. But on that board it seems to work. It's good to know I am not TOTALLY anal about keeping things neat. And sometimes on really bad days, looking at all those friendly faces keeps me from losing touch with reality.

Do YOU have a board with your peeps?

What does it look like, and how does it make you feel?

*Peeps (slang for people, in case you've never heard that one)

It's hard to see the character around all the backpacks, books and paper on the counters!

You have created a collage of your life-- a beautiful work of art, which, like life itself, came together seemingly at random. You should take a face-on full-frame picture of that board and keep it as a "snapshot" of your life.

Those are the best kind of boards I think. I have a few photos scattered on our bulletin board - I'll take a picture of it later. It's smaller than that one. :o)

Actually, I have one of those and use it for just about everything. Except applesauce. I used to put the apples through it but Hubby complained that he liked his applesauce chunky.

As a result, I peel them now, and in return he gives me a fantastic back rub in the evening. It is SO worth it!!!!! We both get what we want!

Very neat idea! We just bought our board, so it's rather bare at the moment. I did, however, tack up a page I ripped out of the back of one of my Country living magazines. "Simple country pleasures" is what it is called. There is one every month that matches the theme for that particular month or season. I think I'll continue to change this out each month. As for pictures...most of those we've acquired while being over here in Germany are in frames or picture albums. However, I do have just a few on my fridge that I might transfer to 'the board'.
Anyway, thanks for sharing! Loved the idea! :-)
