What's in YOUR Yard?
Wed Nov 02 2005

The sky is gray. I'm waiting for it to rain. Then I will have a good excuse for not being out in the garden cleaning up for winter you see. But so far, all we have is gray.

The other day Hub Man and I took a trip up into the nearby hills to buy apples. We found these two quirky do-dads in a clearance sale. (They practically gave them away I can tell you)

I am becoming inordinately fond of goofy yard art these days. I just bought an animated leaf thing that has motion detector eyes on ebay. I just had to have one. I love leaves in the first place, and goofy leaves just fit right into my propensity for the bizarre. I think it is a reaction to the strict regulations we have about what you can and cannot do in your front yard in our subdivision. They don't have much say in what you put in your BACK yard, as long as it doesn't stick up above the fence line. Here's a link to what's coming in the mail.

Leaf Man

Wild eh? One of these days I want to live somewhere where I can have something really weird in my front yard. Like this cow that I get a good look at when I travel up north.

 Mooodonna

Wouldn't that just be a kick? [pun alert, take note] Okay. I gotta get busy around here. Banana bread awaits. And laundry. And maybe even some homemade noodles. You never know!

WE have several cows like that not far from here, bigger than life so they are visible in their field from the road.

In my yard, weeds and lots of plants that need to be taken out for the winter. Like you, I've had a hard time finding the inspiration to go out and do it. At least the last few days I've had rain as an excuse!

I wish I had a yard. A *real* one anyway. I have a few inches I share with others, currently.
I just love the new yard art...and Leaf man is just the coolest! A couple of years to go and I'll be able to have my own yard art once more.

The banana bread sounds yummy right about now! I just recently found a recipe for a German gingerbread cake that I'm going to try out for Ben's homecoming from the field. If it turns out to be as good as it sounds I'll share the recipe. :-)

    Hugs,
    Lauren

Hummm!!A log Deck about 30trees ready to cut up for fire wood in the back yard , the burn pile is going and clean up of limbs from last wind storm.
Front yard has a a small log deck and I still have about 18 trees to drop that bark beetles are killing.
Both front and back have Kritters Deer, Squirles,
Doves, ,stray cats, Fox and a COON that is pressing his luck.
I believe they all enjoy watching a tired old man work his buns off.
The resident Bear has destoried my trash can and
his time is running out for the SSS is about to take place. (Shot Shovel Shut up)
Other tan that things are about normal in Partridge Pines with snow down to 4500' tonight.

There is a scrap metal business just outside of (or maybe in, who knows) Dothan, AL, that features a large 3D pig made of scrap metal on the roadside. I don't know the name of it but we do enjoy it as we pass by.

Welcome home. My apologies for not being around to welcome you back yesterday, but every time I got online DD was down.

Reading today's entry reminded me of some wild yard art not too far from here. They have a giant chicken. A few weeks after the chicken showed up their neighbors put up a life size moose and three larger than life jazz musicians. A few days ago I spotted a cow in another yard nearby. I tell you its getting kind of scary down there. LOL

I'll try to get down there with my camera some time soon; its a hoot.
