Ta-Da!

So there I was, in the dark of a winter's morning driving north. I had one hundred miles to go.
I chose, as is so often my fate, the worst possible winter's morning on record to be driving one hundred miles north.
I was whipped by gusts, drenched by alluvion waters of epic proportions. Though I knew the sun was supposed to be coming up, it just seemed to get darker and darker. My windshield wipers did their best to keep up, but it was a futile task. Sheets of water doused the car and filled up the leaky place on the floor of the back right side yet again.
Finally, praised be to God, I made it to the Humane Society with nary a wrong turn.
Collected my new friend above in jig time and loaded her up in the car with the help of one of the workers. She whined and looked at him out the back window as we drove off. I felt bad. But it spoke volumes to me that she could make fast friends in the 10 days that she was there.
Anyway....
As SOON as we made the turn onto the on ramp of the freeway.......
The sun came out.
It did not rain ONE drop on the way home!
Her real name was Sissy, which I did not have an affinity for and had been trying to think of a similar sounding name all the way up there, without success. Sashi? Suzy? Silly? Sushi? Missy?
Then it came to me, like the rays in my eyes.
Sunny.
And so she is.
She is part Jack Russel Terrier and part Australian Shepherd if you can believe that. Hub man favors the former, and I the latter, so we both got what we were looking for.
It is two years this month that Robbie passed away. It seemed a fitting tribute to find a new doggie friend at this season.
We have already made a short hike down to the creek, with a few lessons in not pulling on the leash, which she took in pretty good humor. I wanted her to know she had landed in a good spot.
Now Hamlet is another matter. He is not at all convinced that this is a good thing. He growls and spits and hisses and has a permanent fuzzed up tail for the last hour, but Sunny just looks at him like, "What's YOUR problem dude?"
We have yet to tackle the bath thing, which WILL happen today because she smells like a kennel, and now so do I because she is a bit of a hugger herself.
But Hub Man promises to come home early from work today, so I will have some help with that.
It's a happy day.
A very happy day indeed.
