Warning: Socio-political Commentary With A Side Of Hen

Okay, let me get this straight. The above cartoon is SO offensive, that it justifies burning buildings and making death threats all over the place.
There are worse things every single day in papers all over the United States.
I print this here in my diary, in solidarity with people of all nationalities that believe in freedom. Not just freedom of the press, but freedom in general.

The exquisite sensibilities of radical muslims, balanced on the edge of a VERY sharp knife, goes beyond rational comprehension. I mean it is totally okay for them to calmly chant the name of allah while sawing off another human being's head. But for their eyes to gaze upon the above image pushes them over the brink into screaming rage and makes them want to burn down buildings.

You know what else really has my logic circuits in a knot?

Muslims think that they have the best religion in the world. And they want us to convert to it. Everywhere I look, all I see are rabid, insanely angry, villainous, murderous, crazed representatives of said religion. Why would I even consider joining them? I mean if that IS their real objective ... to convert the world to islam.

Oh, wait a minute.

Maybe that is NOT their main objective.

Maybe they just want us dead.

Well, that would explain a lot wouldn't it?

"Look at me.
Someone drew both of my eyes
on one side of my head.
You don't see me setting
fire to anything.
Do you?
Buk!"

Our local paper would not print the cartoon because they claimed ''We do not have a dog in this fight'' and didn't want to upset the Muslim community.
Thanks for letting me see what all the hoopla was about.

When will the world stop the HOLY wars?? This country has entered a war imposing our love of freedom on people that have through HISTORY of spilling more blood over which Religion and faith
    in the only true ONE.
I fear that as we fan the winds of this HOLY war it will only grow and the money we throw at it only fans the FLAME.

We as a nation can not force Freedom on people and countries who do not know or willing to take the steps to earn it.
I see no end to this Holy war .

Did you see the article about Piss Christ. An "artist" dipped a crucifix in a vat of his own urine and called it art.

Well, of course Christians were outraged, but I don't recall that they rampaged and killed the so called artist, or demanded the heads of any other artists they didn't agree with.

    *sigh*

When will the world see what these radicals are up to? Maybe this will open some eyes.

    Shalom

Good on ya for saying what so many of us were thinking. I'd rather not think that religion should be based on hate but we see so much of that from the radicals. In theory, Islam is a peaceful religion. In practice it doesn't really seem that way, does it?

Well, I have to agree. There's a lot of silly talk about their's being a religion of peace, but I haven't seen much to support it.

In answer to your questions; TAFE is like community college, I think, for you. Here's the link to website about her particular one: http://www.central.wa.edu.au; and rockmelon is what you guys call cantaloupe. Try this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantaloupe. ;-)

Someone I used to date had a roomate who is muslim. His roomate was constantly pontificating on the peaceful nature of Islam, while in the very next breath he'd tell all about the talks he heard down at the mosque about their plan to convert or kill every non-muslim on the planet. Not only did he believe this was the right thing to do, he was PROUD of it! I don't think that group will ever be progressive enough to believe in religious freedom.

We've been reading Little Green Footballs for the last week or so about this (thanks for mentioning the site a few months ago, can't believe I remembered but I did). Primarily we started because of the elections in Palestine and the issues in Iran. It's nice to know about these things before the rest of MSM picks up on them. As usual. Pure insanity.

Not all Muslims are rioting. Most are making peaceful objection. It's no more fair to say that "they want us dead" than it is to say that Americans are burning down southern churches. It's happening because of the actions of a few.

I do not agree with the rioters. It worries me that the newsworthy actions of any minority group are extrapolated to represent the opinions and actions of the majority.
