A Weighty Subject
Sat Sep 30 2006

I am sitting beneath a certain relative's new laptop composing this entry. We are visiting for the weekend and I thought I would give this a try.
It weighs a ton though and already knees are going numb. The screen is as wide as an old fashioned drive-in. And the keyboard is way too weird for me after being used to a natural keyboard style for many years now. I have made so many mistakes on this entry, I'm sure I have begun to wear out the backspace button.

Let's see, what kind of laptop is this? Ummm an HP Pavilion Widescreen. I am worried that my lower legs will never be the same. I can't feel my toes anymore.  Hub Man and I estimate its weight at 5 pounds. I'll bet I could find the specs online, but I just don't want to deal with the touch pad which is a poor substitute for a good old fashioned mouse. I'll give up my mouse the day that they have reliable touch SCREENS..... maybe.   It will probably always seem wrong to touch the screen. some habits will die hard, that will be one of them I am sure.

Anyway, I kinda miss my regular old desktop.  Sure it takes up a lot of space, and I can't carry it around with me, though carrying THIS laptop around would not be a peice of cake either come to think of it....

Well, this has not been a very complete review of this laptop, and certainly it was not unbiased.  After all, a Luddite like me should probably not be permitted to review any new technology. We see evil technology empires taking around every corner.

Alas, it is late. I must depart.

If I could only use my legs......

I am the total opposite...I love my laptop. Once you get used to them they are great. I hate dealing with a mouse anymore. You have to keep moving them around to work. You don't have that with a laptop. I have a case on wheels when I want to take it up north. I have never tried using it on my lap, but I don't think I would like that. There's my opinion, for what it is worth. :o)

I only used a laptop a few times. Actually 2 of them. I hated them both. I hated not having a mouse or a regular keyboard too. I'm with ya.

    So how are your legs?

Too funny. I was busy all weekend, playing with hubby's new laptop. I fell in love and can't wait to have one of my own... of course that might have something to do with having to share a computer at home with a teenager. I enjoyed taking the laptop to another room. I was also very impressed with the mouse area. It was much more responsive than the old laptops and definately better than my bosses' hp's...

There have been times when I thought a laptop would be nice, but alas, when tried my husband's I found I hated that little ball thingy.....after all, without a mouse in the house how does one feel at home?
