I asked her if she had been spinning much and the conversation came around to something called 'crimp', and I said what is crimp? Well, out came a plastic bag with a fleece in it and I found out. Evidently good spinning fleeces have these little crinkles in them that makes for good yarn. Who knew?
Then wonder of wonders she said that she would spin me some yarn. We struck a bargain and out came another bag filled to overflowing from a black sheep, though really it is the most wonderful deep brown coffee color you could ever imagine! It is just as it came off the sheep when it was shorn, full of lanolin and very clean too as I understand the woman who owns the sheep keeps them from the brambles and mud.
So, here is my friend and her fleece, that will someday be yarn, that God willing I will be skilled enough to make into a sweater:

I only hope that I will become a knitter worthy of such a wonderful prize.
Many thanks P. for your generous offer. I feel so special! And thank you too S. for sharing your friend with me.

I am sorting and packing my stuff to ride the bus home today. Six hours away. I hope to use the time to make some headway on a particularly slow project that frankly I will be glad to get off my needles.
So as of this afternoon, I will be .... homeward bound.
Farewell to my mountain friends and family. Thank you to Mamallama for the treasure trove of scrapbooking gifts and inspiration. Sorry I walked your legs off yesterday. You gotta stop me sooner next time, or we will be at the top of a mountain before you can say 'wooly wooly sheep'!
