Another Hobby You Need?
Fri Dec 15 2006

I have this really generous neighbor D. who was kind enough to loan me a gaggle of her stamps and stamping supplies the other day. I have been having a ball making stationary and decorating envelopes.

This happy situation dovetails into something else I have decided I want to start doing more of, and that is writing really real letters.

I hear and now predict that there is going to be a renaissance of real letter writing. It is inevitable. Pendulums swing. Email is wonderful. And chatting on line is fun. Video chat is a hoot, as Mamallama and I can attest since our first one yesterday where we cracked each other up at will.... BUT. There is just something wonderful about mail, and a re-readable letter from a friend or family member.

This was brought home to me the other day when I was cleaning out a drawer and found a letter from a now deceased relative. I don't think I need to go into detail how nice it is to have that letter to look at again and again.

Therefore I am launching forth into a letter writing campaign. Anyone reading this blog is welcome to leave me your address in a private comment, and I will send you a hand written letter on some kind of altered stationary made by moi.

Happy Hanukkah!

I have a cousin who said the same thing a couple years ago and managed to send one letter after her proclomation. Since then I got a pen pal and it is SO nice receiving real letters in the mail every few weeks. You say more in a real letter than you ever say in emails, at least that's what I've found. I've always been a big long letter writer.

Oh, and your stationary looks beautiful!

I couldn't agree with you more. I have received really cool ones from you and can attest to the good feelings they bring when I look at them again and again.
I will take up the cause and write more letters. I'll send one today! To you!
You have my address, so I won't send it again. :o)
    Happy Hanukkah!

Oh, how beautiful your new stationary is! Anyone who gets a letter from you on it is going to feel doubly blest.

I'm a nut?! Dear heart, I do believe this is a case of the cashew calling the almond brown! ("You cashew, you." "Gesundheit!")

    Hugs,
