Wild About Harry
Fri Jul 20 2007

I am spending a fair amount of effort today avoiding all things Harry Potter in the news. I came perilously close to hanging up on Hub Man today when he called from work to tell me he had read a book review (no spoilers) of the newest book.

I don't want to know ANYTHING from someone else. I want to read it myself.

I have turned off the TV already once last night when they started talking about it, and I have skipped several links on the Drudge Report and some news headlines on my home page.

Dang. This is going to be hard.

To amuse ourselves until we get the book, Hub Man, Mamallama and I are making a list of "Things We Think Might Happen" in the last book.

But to tell the truth, all it does is make the waiting worse.

Until then..... this is all I have to look at :

There was another author who whipped up public angst over the outcome of a story.

Remember Charles Dickens?

And Little Nell?

So, maybe this frenzy is not so new or novel.... (heh heh) after all.

Haven't read any of them and have no plans to. I realize this makes me an oddity in today's world, but at least there is one person you can talk to today who is perfectly safe..... I know nothing.

    So how are things?

By the way, a return post could reach you as early as tomorrow. How's that for promp? :)

I reserved a book at WalMart. I'm just waiting for THE CALL to come pick up my book. The hanging on is getting perilous.

    Bless the day

I've also been avoiding potential sources of spoilers and have my list of "what I think might happen". I started re-reading Half-Blood Prince the other day to bring me back up to date and see if I could glean any clues from it. Some things happen and are said at The Burrow by Molly when Harry first arrives that has a couple question marks floating above my head. I hope what I think may occur in relation to those things don't come true.

    We will find out tomorrow!

I'm with Rebecca, talk away but it'll be a blank slate on my end. I don't have much of a clue about any of it. Though by now you've probably got it, read it and finished it. :o)
