Let it never be said that I don't start what I finish....

Even though it takes me a long long time.

It took me four hours just to sew this sweater together. Never mind how long it took to knit the pieces.... I was not expecting it to take THAT long!

But at last it is done, done, done.

I plan to take it to my knitting guild meeting tonight. I composed this script for our moderator to read while I model the sweater for the assembled group:

Here we have the very first adult sweater knitted by. _ _ _ .

This stylish garment was knitted from hard to find Red Heart mothproof yarn from the 'Fiesta' line. The color is 'Meadow'.

Notice the subtle shaping obtained by the cleverly placed short rows and darts. It is a minor miracle that the sleeves actually turned out to be the right length.

It is highly unlikely that this sweater will see the light of day in any public venue from this moment forward. So get a good look at it while you can.

Its perfect destiny would probably be as a sweater for a very large stuffed bear. If anyone knows of such a stuffed animal, please let her know so she can get this thing out of her sight as soon as possible

Thank you for your kind attention....

And here you have it:

I can't tell if it's just the way the sweater is draped over the sofa, or what...but it does leave me with a question.

Were you planning to become pregnant?

Otherwise, it looks lovely. I like that stitching pattern over the shoulders. For a first attempt, don't knock it.

    Bless

Well, it does appear to be a little "roomy" for you, but all the best sweaters *are* donchaknow. They need to be to fit over the multiple layers of winter clothes.

Also, don't knock the acrylic yarn! I love acrylic sweaters! They are warm, they hold their shape and they are so soft against the skin. As a bonus, they don't fade. But then, I'm allergic to wool, so what do I know.

When I was a toddler my mother knitted a pink mohair sweater for me and I hated it. I told her it was itchy and felt like bugs crawling on my skin. She didn't listen and dressed me in that darned sweater every time she got a chance.

It was only when I was 35 that my wool allergy became so bad it could no longer be ignored. What misery that was! I really liked the green plaid, zip-up "car coat," too. The itchy red rash from my ears to my hips I could have done without, though.

LOL, so ok, it may not be a fashion statement, BUT, it signifies a great accomplishment, good job!

Last fall I found a lovely Aran knit cardigan pattern, full of cables and details. I knit it up in a deep chocolate colour. I expected to look like the tall slim model wearing the sweater in the photo. Instead, I resemble the very plush teddy bear you are looking for. Sigh...

Sofas don't wear sweaters well though they do look fabulous with a properly draped blanket.... but, I digress. My point is that you should not sell yourself short. Your sweater needs a body in it and I don't mean a bear body or even a bare body though a bare body would no doubt benefit best from your lovely creation.

*Compliment real; feeble word play humor the result of sleep deprivation* :)
