Matzah Ball Park Knitting With John Wayne
Fri Apr 18 2008

Hub Man and his cast went off to work today. Oh yeah, he road his motorcycle. He is not completely sure they will let him work with his cast on, but he is going to give it a try. What a rebel. He has more than a skosh of John Wayne in him. As a matter of fact, he has a framed picture of John Wayne hanging on the wall in our bedroom. I will not discuss any Freudian implications this may bring up in your minds.

Here's the cast, getting Fiona's complete approval:

Last night we went to our annual baseball game with my knitting guild. The lady sitting in front of us was knitting at a mesmerizingly fast pace. Notice that her fingers are slightly out of focus even! It was a lovely evening, perfect weather and a great game. I will make mention that the outfielders for the Sacramento River Cats this year are superb. They made some fabulous plays. And ended up winning the game 4 -3.

Passover begins tomorrow, and I have been outfitting our kitchen for the 8 days of eating matzah. Every year I try new things to accomplish this task and every year I admit to grumbling a fair bit. But I don't grumble about the Seder, which is the Passover meal. It lasts forever it seems but when the company is good, there's nothing like it. We have been invited to a friend's house this year so it will be more intimate than last year at the synagogue.
But I WILL kinda miss standing on the chairs at the end and singing. I don't even know how that tradition got started in our synagogue, but it is fun.

Okay, back to the kitchen for me, trying to think of all the food issues that will come up in the next week and hoping I will have made provision for them.

Happy Passover to any of you who observe it!

I agree! Seder at your shul is great fun, much more fun than the Seder at Beth Israel, but Beth Israel has slightly better food. But then, it's a catered deal and is considerably more expensive, too. Since I don't even attempt to rid our house of chametz I don't try to have a Seder here, it just seems wrong to do so. I think I'll make us some matzo ball soup and salmon gefilte fish for dinner, though.

Cast? CAST? You didn't mention a cast when we spoke the other day!! What did he do??

I realized only today that I did a poor--no rotten--job of supplying my pantry for Passover. I have plenty of matzah, but not much else.

    Bless
