A Copse Of Nasturtiums
Sun Apr 27 2008

[album 65561 Sunday 001.jpg]

For some reason, these little things tickle me. They do look like a small forest don't they?

I don't know why I haven't thought to grow them here before this. I also planted a little area of the flower bed in Four O'clocks this year. They are just coming up and I am trying hard to keep Sunny AND Hub Man from stepping all over them. I put upturned flower pots all around hoping it will help.

I was out in the swing that sits near the peach tree the other evening, and I thought for sure I could HEAR those peaches growing. They get bigger every day. I have had to pluck a few of the smaller ones off because so many are on there, they won't have enough room to mature. It makes me feel absolutely awful. I apologize the whole time. I hope the peach tree understands my plant husbandry.

The Clementine orange tree is absolutely awash in blossoms this year. I do hope it sets more fruit than last. We only had about 10 or so as I recall. They were very good quality too. But even if the crop may end up small, that tree rather makes up for it by the hypnotic scent that floats around in the yard. Especially at night for some reason. One could say that it almost induces visions.

It must be Spring.

I've got nasturium coming up too, planted a couple different varieties this year. So sweet! And sweet peas, too! (Though I just planted those yesterday. Time will tell.)

Don't they just look like the happiest little plants??

As for the tadpoles, yes, the fish (mainly the koi) do eat some of them but there are literally thousands so a few hundred always manage to sprout their legs and escape. We always know that for a period of several days we can't mow the lawn *laffs*. Wouldn't THAT be a mess of epic proportions????

    Grow little plants, GROW!
Make her have happy thoughts. :o)

There are several plants that have stronger scents at night. I have an article about "A Night Garden." Someday I'm gonna have one.

Take a deep breath of fragrant spring air for me. It was warmer here in February than its been in the last two weeks. I'm not certain, but I think it is possible we have skipped spring.

Now, according to several ladies I met with this week all this cold air is the direct result of global warming..... I kid you not...... they really believe getting colder is the result of the planet getting warmer so we all need to stop driving so the planet will cool down so we can get warm again.

This is what serves as intelligent thought on the left ....... where are the little men in white coats when you need them?

I like nasturtiums. They're cocky little plants, and they're edible.
