Where were we?
Oh yes, Montana.
So we drove down the road a ways from Lost Prairie and stayed in a place... I kid you not, called The Hungry Horse Motel.
It was .... old, rustic, cozy. Okay, okay, it was the only one that had a vacant room. But it had a bathtub, and I needed a real bath. You know how in many motels, the people go in their rooms and you never see them again till morning? Well, this place had a totally different feeling to it. There were chairs out in front of some of the rooms and people left their doors open in the evening, and little kids were playing in the gravel parking lot. I liked it.
We got up early the next morning and headed into the southern end of Glacier National Park. After days and days of hot sun and clear blue skies, my sunburned nose and I were delighted to see this along the way....

Lake McDonald
Ahhhhh...... now that's my kind of weather!
The only thing was, we were going over the "Going to the Sun" pass which unfortunately was obscured by clouds almost all the way. Once in a while we could see something. I drove so Hub Man could gawk. I have been this way once before.

But when we got over to the other side of the pass, the clouds thinned out and this is what greeted us a few thousand feet down the road.
You can't make this stuff up.
No wonder they charge you TWENTY FIVE freaking dollars to drive on this road....

But there was more to come.....
