What I Brought Home
Thu Aug 14 2008

I mentioned wind in yesterday's entry title, but didn't mention the wind.

Let me just say that we set up our tent in a 50 mile an hour one. Good for us that we were just about as far from the lake shore as the campground offered, so it wasn't too bad.

The lake itself is so long and surrounded by steep mountains that it is a perfect wind tunnel. After the first day, it calmed down quite a bit thank goodness.

Waterton is a walking town. It is so small, you could see every street in under an hour. We walked all over it. I loved not having to look at car butts. That was an unexpected dividend, and I relished every minute.

And before I forget it, here are my stones.

There aren't really all that many, but they weigh a ton....

Some I chose for color, some for shape, and all of them make me smile.

Fiona thinks there may be one in there in the shape of a mouse.

She's inspecting them to see...

Very nice collection . Now you need a fish tank to show them off. Yep long narrow Lakes make for wind tunnel, if you remember as a child we spent a night at Lady Eleven Lake on shore miles from camp for it was a whitecap flip the boat type storm.
I have a picture of you sound asleep in life jacket under bow cover the next day on a still very choppy ride to camp as that was where food was but our tent was blown down sleeping bags soaked but that is part of tent camping in the far North. That is when MOM let it be known NO more tent trips.AH yes

R and I rock hunt everywhere we go. We once had our bags searched coming back through customs. Interesting look on the customs inspectors face when he found the bag of rocks, lol ;)

Those are beautiful rocks. The shapes and colors are wonderful. I think I saw a bunny rabbit crouched down, just above Fiona's head.

What are you going to do with them?

    Bless

When I was a kid I collected rocks everywhere we went, but stopped somewhere along the way.

Its interesting though that I buy rocks; usually because I like the color or some other detail about them. I like rocks in bowls of water when I float a flower; I like them around candles and I have been known to scatter them down the center of a table as part of the table decor. They just add something. (I would say organic, but that word has been forever ruined for me by the "saucer people".) Let's just say they add a solid sort of beauty that is oddly comforting.

I think I am missing something in not picking out my own where they would also serve to remind me of something special. You are definately onto something.

So, what do you intend to do with this beautiful collection of happy memories?

Saucer People: 1.To be as shallow as the plate a teacup sits on. 2.People abducted by aliens and returned to earth as mind numbed robots to preach salvation thru a return to oneness in a global community.
