October Dust Bowl
Wed Oct 29 2008

October is almost over.

I'm tired of it already.

It is usually my favorite month, but this year. . . eh. It's been hot here. I mean in the 80's hot. And I'm so DONE with hot.

But I have been looking at the weather page and watching this big cloud mass coming closer and closer. I am so hopeful for a nice rain... I can't tell you. It's supposed to be here by friday.

I wandered into the poor parched and faded back yard. I found this interesting sight....

Parsley with some sort of chlorophyl malfunction going on:

And here are a pair of tomatoes that somehow survived the wholesale tomato plant eradication that I conducted several weeks ago. I don't know WHAT they were hiding under, but here they are:

And one more thing by way of follow up.

What ever happened to the stones from Waterton Lake in Canada you ask?

(They didn't ask, you moron.)

Sigh.

You are SUCH a literalist....

Well, I found just the right bowl for them at IKEA and to go with it, an odd little metal sculpture from Goodwill... [Have I mentioned how much I love Goodwill?]

(Ad nauseum.)

Whatever.

Anyway, this is what I did with the stones....

I like it.

A lot.

(You would.)

Okay, Mr. Crankypants. Do YOU have anything to add about the end of October?

(Yeah. I've seen the bowl of Halloween candy you just put out. I'll keep an eye on it for you, no problem.)

All right, if it amuses you.

And I certainly hope it does, for all our sakes.

Oct. is a funny month ,seems it can never make up it's mind . I like the Stone arangement for YOU and I brought them home from Lady Evelen Lake but drift wood was my thing. I do long for the adventure of Canadian fly in fishing but it is a bridge to far as I have have lost the focus required to be a man in the wilderness and where any mistake can be very-very bad.

I like what you did with the rocks and the bowl and the figurine. Very nice.

I'm with you about October. I am ready for some nice cool weather. Been checking the Portland OR weather and wishing I were there. It's definitely sweater days--heavy sweater days.

Would love to be in Yacolt for Thanksgiving, but the exchequer says good luck with that.

    Bless

That bowl arrangement is lovely! The bowl looks like it was MADE for those rocks!

Oh, and I am well and truly sick of the heat, too. I rather like the cool weather and sweaters and such.

Very nice rock and figurine arrangement.
    I love it all.
As you know, I have to be different. I'll miss the warmish, windy days of fall. I'm not ready for cold, freezing, snowy weather yet.
Rain I could handle. AND it is supposed to coming soon. Like tomorrow.
    I CAN'T WAIT!

Glad your stones found a good home. Nice arrangement.

We had a little flurry of snow today. I brought my pumpkin in from the deck to carve it and it was frozen solid. 80 deg? Sounds good about now!

Are you going to get rain? I'm so jealous of you right now.
